DT HUB Centre

Design Thinking is a practical way of designing solutions. It is becoming increasingly popular not only in business but also at universities — from d.school at Stanford University to many centers across Europe. We joined this movement too 😊

We officially became part of it on 12 August 2020, when Professor Andrzej Kaleta, the Rector of the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business, decided to establish the Innovative Solutions Design Center DT HUB.

The Center was established as part of the ZPU2 project, “Nowa jakość – nowe możliwości. Zintegrowany program rozwoju uczelni.”, co-funded by the EU (ESF, Operational Programme “Wiedza. Edukacja. Rozwój”, POWR.03.05.00‑00‑Z221/18‑00).

DT CLUB

At the DT HUB Center, there is an active team of students (co-facilitators), who put the Design Thinking methodology into practice. Club members design and develop innovative ideas that can be implemented in the real world – both socially and in business. DT CLUB collaborates with us on events focused on Human-Centered Design and User Experience, gaining experience, building connections and strengthening the culture of innovation.

DT WORKSPACE

Since 15 December 2023, the DT HUB Center has had its own workshop. DT WORKSPACE is an inspiring educational environment designed for running workshops and team problem-solving according to the Design Thinking methodology. The workshop was designed to support a full range of different learning styles. It is a space for active learning that fosters creativity and innovation following the DT methodology, based on a Human-Centered Design approach.

The workshop is equipped with solutions from Steelcase, designed by IDEO – the organization that popularized Design Thinking. This ecosystem assumes that learning happens everywhere (it can be synchronous or asynchronous, formal or informal) and is more dynamic than ever before.

Moving from passive to active learning (typical in Design Thinking) means arranging the learning space so that you can tweak the setup at any moment depending on what is going on in the room.

The workspace is designed to:

Allow smooth configuration changes, supporting different types of activities at various stages of the DT process (group discussions, teamwork, presentations and individual testing of solutions designed during the DT process)
Ensure the facilitator can move easily around the room and reach every workshop participant
Initiate connections between people in a user-friendly way (taking into account different body positions – sitting, standing).

And that is exactly what DT WORKSPACE is!

DT WORKSPACE is a studio born from HUGE PASSION and REALIZED thanks to GREAT PERSEVERANCE, … all to serve its users and inspire effective action.

The heart of the studio consists of two rooms: DT WORKSHOP ROOM and DT PROJECT TEAM ROOM, which integrate technology and furniture to provide better performance. Simple mobility and reconfiguration allow users to switch modes, interact with content, connect to power sources, and collaborate seamlessly with each other. The solutions used enable simultaneous presentation and discussion of information from various sources. They eliminate physical and virtual barriers, allowing free use of both analog and digital tools and creating an environment optimized for active collaboration. Learning becomes more interactive and rewarding.

DT WORKSPACE is supported by the backstage area – DT IDEAKITCHEN (room with a kitchen facility) and DT OFFICE (the office of the DT HUB Center).
